Grand Designs Central to the look and feel of Torchwood, the imposing Hub is the work of production designers Edward Thomas and Julian Luxton. In this detail-packed first issue, Julian guides us through the elements that make up the set, while Edward reveals the inspirations for the Hub: "Russell was very non-specific about the Hub in the first script. That's great for us, because it means he trusts us to get it right, but we didn't know whether it should be a factory unit, a bunker, or what. We just knew it needed to be beautiful and sexy.”
